HI All,

I need your urgent help. I got engaged last month in Pakistan. I am a Canadian PR in IT field. I plan to get married in Pakistan this year (preferrably in Sept) with nikkah and (reception). She is still studying and will be graduate in Fall 2015. Preferably rukhsati to take place in Fall 2015 as she is still studying.

I am seeking your help in order to get the best advice.

1) Option 1: She applies for a Visit visa prior to nikkah, we get married in Canada. I sponsor for her outland..BUt she will be able to stay here and we can apply for extension of her visit visa?

i am being told that if her visit visa is denied, sponsorship for her will be difficult.

2)Option 2: We get married in Pakistan (nikkah/Wedding reception). I appy for her outland from here after marriage/short honeymoon. We have already started to keep copies of conversations/call logs/emails/gifts receipts. We intend to have a formal wedding reception/wedding change. Change her address on passport, university records, identity card to my address in pakistan.
Will CIC want photos of the barat/walima. I would think Wedding reception with family/guests should be sufficient. Do they want pictures of the traditional ceremonies in the wedding.
What else in terms of proof of relationship can I show.

Please advise. I prefer Option 2 as her time while studying can be used for sponsorship and I will frequently visit Paksitan.

I see nothing wrong with option 2.

I think it would be very good to also have photos of the wedding ceremony also and any other related ceremonies in addition to the reception. Pictures with parents and other family from both sides would help a lot.

This is from the region specific forms from Pakistan. Tells you exactly how many and of what photos you need. You should really fill out all the forms you can by yourself and print out the rest to fill there because many forms you will need her signature for.

• Approximately 15 to 20 printed photographs of you and your sponsor with relatives and friends.
Photos submitted should be comprised by the wedding ceremony (signing of the contract or
Nikkah) and customary celebrations held afterwards (the wedding reception or the Rukhsati in
Urdu). Photos should also include pictures taken of you and your sponsor together on other
occasions, for example, either before and/or after the wedding.

Here's the link to the form I got this from.

Remember, everything should either be in English, or be translated into English.
Things such as NADRA ID Card, Birth Certificate, etc.

New Pakistani passport(s) do not have address on them, as they're computerized/machine readable. Much better than the old manual passports which were such a pain to many officials due to everything being spread around on 4 pages.

Make sure you get the marriage certificate from NADRA after marriage. (not just the regular nikahnama's)

Thank you guys for your feedback..

Quick question:
At which stage can she apply for a visit visa.I guess once the stage 1 is processed.

Once the PR papers have been submitted, it will be much harder for her to get a visitor visa. She now has more ties to Canada than to pakistan. CIC will believe she will not leave Canada at the end of her stay. Especially when PR papers have been submitting showing her intent to stay permanently.

You can still try to apply for visitor visa for your wife. There is no harm in trying. But be aware that the likelihood of her getting a visitor visa is very very low.

Except for delaying the rukhsati which raises red flags
