Urgent - re-entry to Canada on student visa

Hi,
me & my wife came here in canada as students .but i dropped the course after 1st semester ,because the course was not a relevant one.so I changed the status & I got an open work permit .Now I have open work permit which is valid till 31st dec 2012 and a multiple entry student visa which is valid till september 30th of this year.

Can I go back to India and return to Canada before 30th of this september ? is it safe for re-entry ? please answer as soon as possible .

Your student visa is now invalid after the issuance of OWP.

Hi

As long as your Multiple Entry is valid, you can return, however, the best thing is to call CIC and ask them and act on their statement.
If possible, pls record the conversation.

I called them twice . both officers told me that I can re -enter to canada on or before sept 30 . I hope everything will be fine .will go to India this week , going to attend father in law's funeral .Thanks for the help friends . If you have more suggestions please share .
