Hi, I have an urgent question regarding the live in caregiver visa.

I have years of experience caring for children, plus a college diploma in early years.

I have been working as an au pair for the past year so have the recent work experience they require.

My question is: do i need proof of this recent work experience? How do other applicants prove their work? It was paid yet I was paid in cash so there will be no official job record as such. Although, it can be proved through reference letters and photos.

Was the year of work experience as an au pair in Canada? If so - then I think you need to exclude this experience completely and pretend it didn't happen. It won't go over well that you were paid in cash and avoided taxes. This means you were working illegally.

Although it wasn't legal as I was on a working visa, I totally get your point. I guess I was getting paid more as 'pocket money' instead. Thanks for your help

It doesn't matter that you were here on a working visa. If you were being paid - you should have paid taxes.

If you include this in the work permit application - you're pretty much guaranteeing yourself a refusal since it demonstrates that you didn't respect the laws when you were here previously and abused the IEC visa privileges.
