Hi everyone. I recently got a request from IRCC to submit my passport to the embassy.

Me and my wife had applied online.
Mine was a LMIA closed work permit.
Her's was an SOWP.

Since both of ours passport request came in today we will be submitting it tomorrow and then maybe within the coming week might get our passports.

But both of us had a few question which we are desperate to find an answer for and hence my request to all senior members or to members who might know the answer to these questions please help us out. Here they are.

1) Within how many days after getting our passports stamped with TRV do we need to enter Canada?

2) Is it possible for myself to travel first and my wife travel after a couple of weeks?

3) If the above happens would it have any negative impact on the border while getting the work permit or the SOWP?

4) Would our visa's allow us multiple entry?

Any and all help regarding this would be significantly helpful. Thank you all for all the help in advance.

Have a great day.
-Joe

1. When you (your employer) submitted LMIA you specified your work start date. So you should enter any time before that day, so it will be understandable to the border officer.
2. Sure it is possible, it may be easier for you to come together right away, but if you have any good reasons to come separately you will need to share them with the border officer, as he will probably ask why.
3. I don't think it will have any negative impact, however as I already told you will need a good reason, so he can understand your move clearly.
4. Yes, I think so.

Thank you for the reply.. My start date was 16th of November.. But I got the passport request yesterday and have submitted the passport today.. I am sure the border officer would consider that right?

Thats fine, you just should be truthful and say how it is.
Don't wait too long, because more questions may rise.

Your employer is waiting for you from Nov 16.

You can go any time before the expiry of your intended work permit.

Joining dates are pushed ahead all the time. All you need at max is a renewed letter from employer. Years ago when i came this way, my work permit processing delayed joining date by a full year. All i got was a new letter from the employer.

The Principal applicant (you) need to land first but your spouse can come latter without any issues.

Thank you all for the reply back. I had another question. Whatever documents I had uploaded online for me and my spouses work permt and SOWP respectively, I would need to bring all those documents with me to show the border officer correct? Or would I need anything else?
