Urgent Proof Wait Time for Replacing Damaged Cards

I have a damaged older style card and am trying to get replacement proof for a job.

Does anyone know if in these cases urgent processing would be faster than someone applying for it for the first time?

A proof of citizenship application can be processed urgently if you need it for a job.

Have you tried showing the damaged one to the employer? Along with other supporting docs eg birth certificate if born in Canada? Or a passport?

Yep, they won’t accept anything except an undamaged certificate or birth certificate. As I was born out of the country (naturalized as a child), seems it’s my only option.

Odd. But without knowing what the organization is, not much one can say. Do you have other evidence of our naturalization or citizenship, like passport?

Passport should be accepted, but this federal organization is strict, so they want an original Certificate…

One of those thigns about Canada - even the important departments can't get IRCC to verify important stuff. It's a joke. Amateurish. (You'd think they'd just confirm directly_)

But there is a decent chance you could get IRCC to process your request quickly, if you have any correspodnence from the other organization to confirm the urgency.
