Hi guys,

Well I will not be applying for citizenship very soon, but I wanted to find out on the basis of me not being able to use my native countrie's passport (I am a convention refugee and even with PR status I wouldn't be safe using my current passport) Could I apply for urgent processing of citizenship (when eligible) due to the fact that I need an important surgery that is not available in Canada (only in the US)?

I could get doctor's reports and such, to explain the situation.

Has anyone had experience with this urgent processing?

Thanks!

The CIC Minister has authority to grant citizenship at a 'super fast' speed - my recollection of this is for where it is in the national interest to do so e.g. you are a world class athlete and want to represent Canada at the Olympic games. Sure you can request for this due to your surgery but your chances apppear slim to none. Why is the surgery unavailable in Canada and why can't you go to the US on your travel document?

Hi Thanks for the reply.

The surgery is simply not available and I don't know why so I can't answer that. Well, I am a convention refugee and I have fear that if I travel using my current passport (when I become PR which will be soon) my embassy will find me :-X

That is why I am not comfortable traveling using it. I am not a criminal just a person who has been persecuted by my former country.

Thanks

You can apply for a travel document (Passport Canada) which is valid for all countries except your home country. You will have to demonstrate a valid reason you were unable to obtain a national passport. The passports are acceptable by most countries including the United states .

Visit Passport Canada site (Non-Canadian in Canada)
