Dear members,

This is my first PR card renewal, it was approved and they sent the new PR card on 5 SEP.
However,I haven't got it yet and CIC agents said that I need to wait 6 weeks to file lost.
Problem is I need to travel outside of Canada in a week and cannot be rescheduled.

1)Would immigration office re-send a new card to me without going over the whole case again?
2)Will they cancel my PR status if the card get lost and I travel outside of Canada before receiving a new card?
3)Can I successfully apply the Travel Documents if needed?

Thank you very much!

1. You have to re-apply again and submit all the paperwork as before. Your 5 year period will be different.
2. Your PR status is intact subject to you maintaining the Residence Obligation.
3. Yes again if you meet the RO.

Find out from the CIC Call Center about available compensation for lost items. You may have to deal with Canada Post too. CIC should have continued with the old system where the applicant picked their card in person or add a premium to the application fee for the cards to be delivered by secure method.

Thanks for your reply Msafirl, i'd better double check with CIC call center
