Hi all,

Finally, I received PPR today for myself and my wife. I live in Canada (on an implied worker status... so can't leave Canada) but my wife lives in Pakistan and I've read mixed comments about how to courier passport from Pakistan to Canada.
Some say that if you explain the situation to the available courier services, they may take your passport, and some say they don't. Some say that we contact the VO in new york (that's where my application is) and ask them that my wife's visa be stamped at Canadian Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan, whereas some say that it requires transferring the file over and full processing.

I have no idea what to do. If anyone has been in a similar position, then I'd really appreciate if you could let me know how you dealt with this situation.

Thanks a bunch.
Regards

Hi,

Instead of listening to some one's opinion, straight away contact the courier companies in her city. You can get their phone numbers from their websites and call from Canada and ask about it.

Secondly If you/she request to stamp her visa at Islamabad will not be considered. There are practical difficulties for the visa office for doing so.. Best method

Basically, it will be better to contact your wife and let her meet with any reputable courier services like either DHL, UPS or FedeX company in her city so i believe they know what to do but be sure they going to charge her for more. They can send her Passport with requested items to Canada and also pay for a return prepaid envelop which will be enclosed in the send envelop.

Note:
Be sure to get a tracking number for the mail containing your passport, prepaid envelop and other documents too. Just to be sure it is delivered successfully. The prepaid envelop containing your Visa or more documents will be activated upon return so with the tracking number that will give you a peace mind. Just for security reasons.

Goodluck!!

Thanks guys for your responses.
But the big issue is that it is illegal to mail passport in/out of pakistan ..... I says on the passport :(
So even courier companies can't do much!!
That's why I have asked my visa office to let me know my options.

If you guys know for sure that canadain consulate in islamabad (pakistan) will not stamp the visa, then that's something worth considering.
Also, could anyone please let me know if the Canadian embassy in pakistan can use my file number to access information about my file (which is in canadian consulate new york) and based on that give my wife her visa.

Please let me know
Thanks

my honest suggestion to you, acha mashwara, do not ask Canadian High Commision Islamabad to stamp visa for your wife. it will take for ever.

Get your wifes passport by hand, i mean if some on is traveling to Canada from Pakistan. By law passport can not be sent by courier outside of pakistan.

Carrying someone else's identification is illegal in this country. Upon entry to Canada if someone else was bringing the passport it would be seized if found.

Even if the person bringing the passport is carrying an authority letter from the passport holder ?
Would the authorities seize the passport even then?

It is illegal to be in possession of another persons passport or any valid identification even with a letter or not depending on the country bcos they will never believe the letter and it can be seized or taken-away by the authorities either at the border. That mean't even result to more delay and investigation so it will be better to confirm from the Visa office that requested the passport and explain your situation so they can provide you with a safer method. Goodluck

No they won't seize with an authorization letter. The poster is a scare monger.
