Urgent Plz-Student (SP) Applying for PR(OINP)-Employer asking if I can apply for WP to get the job

Hi everyone,

I am a student in Alberta (with a valid study permit) and I got an ITA under OINP HCP stream. I am gonna submit my PR application in October. I am looking for a job in Ontario and I will move once I got the approval of my PR.

As I was looking for a job in ON, I got a positive response from a prestigious company who is asking if can apply for a work permit until I get the approval of my PR. Can I apply for a bridging work permit after receiving a positive response about my PR application (But I have a study permit now, not a work permit)? Is there any other way as a nominee to be eligible to work and get the job?

Please help me as soon as possible. I have to reply the employer tomorrow (Friday). Please, who knows support me. Thanks a lot for your time

Bridge permit is for those who already have a work permit so it doesn't apply to you.
PR application doesn't give you right to work, you need a proper work permit. If you are graduating, you could apply for PGWP

Thanks for your reply. Actually, I didn't graduate and I am not eligible to apply for a PGWP. I have just seen the below on the CIC & OINP websites and I am very confused:

1-for (Foreign workers nominated by a province or territory)

You cannot apply for BOWP bc it will require a PGWP. If you want to work in Canada, you have to change your status from Student to Worker.

Btw, as I know, OINP is currently closed, how can you apply for it?

So you want a work permit, which can be supported by a nomination. As I checked, CIC does have it. But it needs a lot of efforts from your company. Will they support it?

Thank a lot rumromrira for taking time to help. The employer is willing to help but Ontario should provide me a support letter to attached with my work permit application. I have just contacted OINP over the phone and they told me that the cannot provide me this letter as I am under HCP stream. This support letter is providing only for nominees who are nominated under job offer streams. I am so sad '

under foreign workers nominated by a province, you can read "a person who has a valid nomination from a province or territory for permanent residence and is employed or has a job offer from an employer based in that province may be issued a work permit without requiring an LMIA"

He just means LMIA is another route to get a work permit too. But it takes a lot of time, money, and works.

Yeah, HCP stream is one of the stream without job offer so you can't use it.

In conclusion, you can get LMIA to get a work permit, or you just wait until you get your PR and work.
