Hi Everyone.. We are in middle of our express entry process and wish to plan a baby asap. Below are the key dates of our process:
AOR : 15th Dec 2022
MEP and BIL : 21st Dec 2022
Biometrics to be done on : 29th Dec 2022

We are really confused and need some suggestions on below queries:

1. If we plan now and get pregnant in next couple of months, how will it impact the whole process ? Is IRCC enough flexible to extend landing dates post PPR and COPR ? Also how easy it is to add additional documents for baby ? (Considering this option due to family support and ease of all other facilities)

2. If we land in canada while being pregnant or plan pregnancy post landing in Canada, how good and comfortable are the medical facilities in Canada for pregnant women as compared to India ?

Any help regarding this would be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

1. IRCC won‘t change landing dates just because you are pregnant. You have the option of doing a soft landing and returning to India to have the baby but you can only sponsor a child from Canada so you’ll need to attempt to get the baby a TRV and the sponsor the baby while in Canada. In some provinces your child isn’t entitled to provincial healthcare until they have PR So you would need to pay for routine care out of pocket and should take out emergency travel health insurance. If you give birth before the expiry date of your COPR you can request to add your baby to your PR application which would delay the application for a few months but is the best option because you don’t have to worry about TRV or sponsorship from Canada. Unless you are already pregnant you may get approved before you are ready to give birth and COPR expiry date is usually a year after your medical. Are you aware that you won’t qualify for maternity payments unless you work a certain amount of hours in around the year before birth? Whether you qualify is a bit more complex but with the cost of living in Canada some extra income is very helpful.

2. Have never visited the top private hospitals in India but care should be comparable to good private hospital in India. Food I most Canadian hospitals is aweful but you aren’t in the hospital for very long after you give birth. Around 24 hours after vaginal birth and 2-3 days for c-section as long as no other issues. How old the hospital is makes a bit of a difference when it comes to layout, the bathrooms, etc. but doesn’t change the quality of care.
