Dear All,
Could you please clarify this for me?
My wife just received her PR approval under family class. Now we have couple of questions about the landing process.
(a) I live in Ottawa,Ontario. Can my wife land in Montreal, QUEBEC as port of entry ? The flight itenary is
India - Doha - London - montreal, quebec. I live in ottawa.I will be going to montreal to pick her up. Is there any issue with this? Does she need to LAND only in ontario? If she is landing in quebec does she need to show any other documents other than the COPR and Passport?

One document that came with the COPR from the consulate states this -
"Reminder if: you are going to Quebec make sure you have a valid Certificad te selection du
Quebec(CSQ) In this case, valid means that the certificat as valid at the time the permanent
residence was issued."

(b) Does my wife need to show any cash amount at the Port Of Entry like federal skilled worker?

Thanks,

Please reply soon since i need to cancel the flight ticket if she can't land in quebec

Hello,

Your wife can land in Montreal, this is not a problem. The Quebec selection certificate does not apply to her since she will not be living in Quebec. There is a seperate office where Quebec residents check in upon arrival after passing through the Canadian immigration office at the Montreal airport. Your Wife will only go through the Canadian landing office.

She does not have to show anything concerning money either. There are no requirements for money as an arriving sponsored spouse. Of course as with anyone entering the country they ask if you have more than $10,000 with you, but that is asked of everyone because if a person has that much it needs to be declared upon entering the country. They will just verify her papers as well as where she wil be living , things such as that. The only place they will ask her about what she has with her is when she goes through customs with her luggage. Be sure she has a list of the items she has with her, and the value, as well as a list of what she will be bringing at a later date. It makes passing through customs much faster.

Wishing you happy life together

a) If your wife enters Canada at a port of entry in the Province of Quebec, she must have been accepted by Quebec and have a valid Quebec Certificate of Selection or be prepared to document her clear intention to reside in a province other than Quebec.

b) No.
