Hi all,

First time poster here, stressing quite a bit and hoping some of you have answers/advice.

I have lived and worked in Canada for 4 years. I was granted my work permit renewal in August but I had moved in that time- I stupidly slept on it, and the occupants of my old place said the document never arrived. I have come back home to Spain for Christmas, and I am worried I won't be granted re-entry at Pearson. I have the approval notice, but not the actual work permit document. Will the border agents accept this? What about the airline- they now check for work permits- shall I tell them I have the ETA and not mention the work permit?
Can a new work permit be printed at Pearson? I am traveling again in March so not sure a new work permit will arrive in time if requested by CIC.

Any help, experience, or insight is appreciated, thanks.

Hi there,

In theory you are supposed to provide the original WP. This said, you lost the permit but not the status. If you explain your situation and provide enough supporting evidence (approval letter, previous WP...), they should be able to clear this out. Of course no one can ensure it as the final decision is made by the officer, but many on this forum were in the same situation as you and reported being able to re-enter Canada.

You can apply for getting your WP replaced (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=175&top=17), and show this to the officer as well.
