Hello,

My brother who is from Cameroon, was granted a 1 year temporary US work permit after which he will have to go back to cameroon (which is understandable).

Now 7 months into his 1 year work program, He is very interested in working in canada therefore would like to apply for the skilled worker program via Quebec (CSQ). he fully meets both the federal and Quebecs skills requirements.

My question is; can he apply for a CSQ+ Pr from washington were he now lives even if he only has six months valid visa left and then back home (in Cameroon) just follow up with the procedure?

Or should he just wait untill he is home before applying? The process to getting that csq being extremely long when done in africa, he would like to save himself up some time and do it from america.

I would really appreciate if someone one could give me answer.

Is he really eligible for applying in washington? Because it should be at least one year of stay in current country of residence.

Yes Manek is correct, one has to be in the US for 1 year before applying through Buffalo(US).

Hello,

Prior to getting the work visa, he was on the f-1 visa and had been living and going to uni in the usa for 3 years.

His current occupation is health club and fitness manager; i would like to know if the latter falls under the "Accomodation manager" work categorie that is on the list of skills on demand in canada.

He also worked for 3 years in luxembourg as assistant manager to a tea shop and cafe.

many thanks.

Before you answer, please read the instructions. For the OP's brother to use Buffalo as the visa office, he would have to have been ADMITTED to the US for a year. Not lived there for a year. He can apply for the CSQ via New York, but it is quite likely that he will not have enough time remaining in the US to be able to attend the interview.

Hi,

He can apply for the CSQ via New York, but it is quite likely that he will not have enough time remaining in the US to be able to attend the interview.

Waoooooh!!!!!Does it usually take more than 7 months to get an interview for the CSQ?

Buffalo average 6 months, see http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/international/02b-skilled-que.asp#west

If he is no longer in the US and gets called for an interview, would it be hard for him to get a visit visa to attend?

The other option would be to apply through Cameroon. He can apply now, even though he is not there at the moment. The average time in Abidjan is 11 months, see here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/international/02b-skilled-que.asp#africa

HI,

Ok, thanks. I will advise him to do so or he can always ask for a visitor visa .

Many thanks everyone.

I think he should be able to apply from New York. But my suggestion would be to come to Canada either on a study permit or work permit and then apply from Montreal, QC. This would be the fastest way to go.

I was in California on a work permit for 12 months and decided to settle in Canada after that.
