I'm applying for CEC this month ie. around 25 aug2012

As they look for experience in the span of 24months. I have three months of my experience between 4aug,2010 to 31oct2010.
I would have applied earlier but I just got my police clearance verified.

Am i screwed now? Or can I write a letter explaining that I was waiting for the police clearance. As i m applying in the month of august, I'm not really sure if I lose those days!

I'm also unemployed now, I just finished a contract position for 9 months. Writing unemployed as a current occupation wont effect my application right?

Please help me out, I have very little time to figure all of this out now!

Writing Unemployed will not affect your application as long as you have the necessary 1 year experience required.
As for your question about previous experiene, I personally do not think CIC will care if you were waiting for a police clearance and they will reject your application (but I may be wrong).

If possible I think your should follow the rule of 1 year experience in the last 24 months before sending your application in.

Thank you Rmust

If I send in the application then next week. I will probably lose the this a month worth of experience right?

I also worked as a graduate research assistant for 2 months, I was however only paid a casual payment for 16 hours? Can i add that as experience?

I didn't know about the 24 months rule until now. I don't really know if i will qualify or not

If you were still a student while working s graduate research assistant, then that experience can not be counted towards you PR. You need full time or equivalent work experience after graduation to count towards your PR.

The experience requirements to apply under CEC is stated in the CIC website they are pretty clear. Read through them and if you dont meet the criteria then unfortunately you are not eligible to apply, there are no bending the rules. You must have what they ask for or else dont send you application because it will be returned.

I suggest you find work and complete your proper 1 year experience before applying. If your work permit is about to expire then you must find a new job and the employer will have to apply for an LMO on your behalf, one the LMO is approved then you can apply to extend your work permit.

Another option is to consult a lawyer for professional advise and see what your options are, but that will cost you $$$!

Unfortunately, you have already lost 1/2 of your August 2010 work experience, so if you needed that experience as part of your 12 months of employment experience, you would no longer qualify. Hopefully, you are able to find a new position shortly to make up the extra 3 months...

Just so others might learn from your mistake - you did not have to wait for your police clearance, you could have submitted that later. Yes, CIC prefers that you submit the clearance with your application, but they have relaxed the rules a little bit, so that cases like yours would not penalized for waiting a long time for a PCC. You could have submitted your application with the clearance pending, so that your 2010 experience did not "expire."
