My friend in India who is in final semester of her PhD has got an offer of internship from a company in Montreal along with collaboration with Univ of Toronto.
The duration is for 1 year from 1st Jan 2016 to 31st Dec 2016. Within this 1 yr, she got a research project in UofT from 1st Feb till 30th June 2016 (5 months) in Toronto and rest of the time in Montreal. The letter she got from Univ of Toronto says that she would be considered an Exchange PhD student and she needs to apply for only a TRV as duration is less than 6 months (so no need for student permit), while letter from the research company in Montreal states that she should apply for an internship visa/work permit for the 1 year duration.
Which Visa / work permit she should be applying in? She is coming here as an researcher, so she is planning to apply in LMIA exempt category for researchers. Any info or help will be much appreciated.
