Hi...my first post...hello all!

I have some questions of you the experts:

I have been a University Lecturer (Master Architecture) (I think you call it Adjunct Professor in canada). And my employment times also sometimes were Semester dependant - ie. Uni 1.: I am employed from April-August each year - so 6 months each year with 6 months pause. Although consistent for the past 9 years. BUT - is this considered CONSISTENT?

I have two University Jobs (at two different Uni's)
Uni 1: University Lecturer: from April 2002 until now - When I add up my hours it covers 890 Hours
Uni 2: University Lecturer & co-Head of 1'st Year: from October 2007 until now - When I add up my hours it covers 1480 Hours
Total: 2370 Hours (63.2 weeks)

The question is: can I add these hours together if they are from different Uni's but similar jobs (although Uni 2 is slightly more senior!)?
and can I apply under two separate NOC's for safety? (ie. NOC 4121 & NOC 4131)

Also I have very good relationship with bosses and will get very good references which will confirm nearly all NOC requirements - Does it matter if my contract job description is very basic and slightly different?

and Last question: Do any of the seniors have a "gut-feeling" of whether these two NOC's will disappear from the 38 List? - I will have to move my ass to post from Vienna to Nova Scotia for this week if so?

thank you all in advance for your help! cheers AlbaVienna

You have enough for maximum points but what is not clear is whether you have one year of continuous experience.

Yes, you can apply under two different NOC or under one NOC but two different jobs. It all depends on what is accurate for your job description.

Do you have at least one year of continuous experience in 4121 or 4131, even if it is at two different places.

I read somewhere in ''op06-eng'' that even if there is a pause in timeline,it can still be considered continuous .
Good luck

It is confusing but thanks for bearing with me:

I could argue that both jobs go under NOC 4131 (University Lecturer?) but the main problem is that at one Uni I am employed for six months of each year (ie. one semester of two) but it has been over 9 years so one might argue that it is at least 6 months of every year for the last 9 years - consistent if not continuous?

Also do you know if it matters whether this work is done on a frreelance contract or as an employee?

thanks in advance....cheers

Contracting is okay. I am not sure why you think consistency matters. Whether you did that for 2 or 9 years doesn't matter as long as you have enough points and it meets the ministerial requirements. So if I may ask (to get a clearer picture), what did you do in the other 6 months of the years? Did you perhaps work the first 6months at one uni and the second 6months at another uni (whether it is lecturing or administrative)?

Hi thanks for your advice on both topics I posted on:
I also worked as a freelance Architect for the majority of the time (aq so called "side-job" but seeing as this is not on the 38 List I decided to go with University Lecturer where I had both Lecturing & Administartive tasks...

do I have to mention this on the form under the relevant NOC number - and does it matter that I have worked many more hours in a non 38 List occupation other than that with which I am applying (naturally I have to account for all my years since 18 so it will be mentioned somewhere?

I guess you would mention one job under university lecturer (as adjunct) and the other under architect.

In fact, you only have to work for one year under one of those jobs found on the 38 occupation list. You will get points for all other jobs even if it is not on the 38 occupation list as long as they are of skill type O, A or B. I am sure architect is one of those skill types.
