Hi,
I'm a permanent resident here in Canada and my mum is currently living with me on her visitor visa (TRV) and visitor records (extension of stay).
Issue:
- Mum's TRV expires May 29th & passport expires May 30th.
- Mum has a new passport expiring in 2027
- Mum has biometrics valid for another 8 years.
- Already applied for a visitor record in December 2021 to extend stay. My guess is my mum will only be given an extension till her TR expiry date? Will she be able to still apply for a visitor record to extend her stay even after her TRV expires?
- Already invited for and applied for the parent grandparent PR sponsorship in December 2021 (this will definitely take a while to process)
- Applying for Super Visa now (which I reckon will still take a few months to process while my mum's TRV will expire)
- I tried applying for a new TRV online by declaring that mum is back in Malaysia (where we're originally from), but wouldn't that be a misrepresentation as my mum is actually in Canada? Is it possible to circumvent this, by submitting a letter describing the situation? If I state that she's here in Canada, the portal will only allow for an extension of stay application (visitor record)
- Even if I successfully apply for mum's TRV, where would be the nearest visa application centre (VAC) to foil her passport? Do I send it all the way back to Malaysia?
- And if all this is possible, does it mean she needs to cross the border OUT of Canada, and come back in with her new passport + new TRV?
Looking forward to some feedback, experiences, etc.
Thanks! =)
