I Won my appeal on feb 10th and july 8 they requested for new police clearance and updated form everything was submitted to the embassy....yesterday a guy from the cid visited my husband's place but my husband was not there at the time he came after that the cid guy called my husband today and saying he needs a copy of our marriage certificate.. just few weeks ago we had a small problem with our friend and she treated us that she will do anything to break us apart...so I have no idea if she is the one sending this cid or the embassy.. if the embassy does a background check how and what they do for a back ground check? please anyone help me

criminal investigation department

hmm....Im NO expert but I've never heard of anyone COMING to request a document in Person...why wouldnt they just sent a written request?...Of course it all depends how things are done in your country...as I said I'm no expert...but make sure it Really IS who he says he is before handing any type of documents

There is a background check of course. Since you won the appeal, it is unlikely it was related to criminal or security reasons. The new police clearance is needed as the previous one is likely outdated. As for the CID, there is a possibility they are running a routine check up.

Also, as far as I understand, the RCMP is the agency responsible for ensuring a criminality check on the applicants. How they they do this (other than viewing various datbases and inspecting the police clearance certificate), I don't know. It is possible, given the location and profile of the applicant, a more thorough background check will be completed. This could involve the CID?

Would they come to your house to ask for a marriage certificate? I highly doubt it. But don't assume anything. Call CIC or visit the embassy and ask. You seem to have been through a long process and are near the finish and a little inquiry could help settle your worries and stress.

They dont do it that way...if a marriage cert is needed they will send you an official letter from cic requesting this..tell you when and how to submit..they are too busy to send people out
