I am a Peruvian citizen, US permanent resident (green card holder) living in San Francisco and my application was sent to the Canadian Embassy in Lima for processing. My application showed as received and it changed to in process a couple of days ago on the website. Today I got an email from the Canadian Embassy in Lima requesting my passport. About 10 minutes later I got another email asking me to disregard the email asking for my passport. I have a feeling they requested my passport to hopefully stamp my visa on it but retracted because they realize I am in San Francisco and my passport is with me. The second email said they would contact me electronically soon to request additional documentation. Does anyone know if they will just issue me with an approval letter that I can show at port of entry. Any information/thoughts will be much appreciated.
Thanks!

That's a bit odd. They definitely wouldn't have retracted the passport request because you're in SF; they would have expected you to mail it to Peru. If I had to guess, I'd say that they retracted it because green card holders are visa-exempt to Canada, so you don't actually need an entry visa. I would suggest you reply to the email and ask them for clarification.

I just got another email today requesting the passport and a few missing documents. I will FedEx everything to them. I am hoping this is the final step before they issue my visa
