My post graduate work permit is set to expire on January 21st 2019

I obtained 6 and a half months of skilled work experience while working internationally in 2016. While i was working internationally, i help the Canadian PGWP.

I will be able to work for the remaining 6 months here in Canada, and get the 12 months.

However, do all 12 months of experience have to be obtained inside Canada? I held the pgwp while i was working internationally.

Please help as this is urgent

Yes - all 12 months of work experience have to be obtained inside Canada. You cannot count the 6.5 months from 2016 towards your Canadian work experience calculation since this work experience was completed outside of Canada.

This really shouldn't be coming as a surprise. Canadian work experience obviously means working in Canada.

You're certainly not completely lost. You won't be able to qualify for CEC just using your PGWP work experience but there are other options. You can see if your employer is willing to obtain an LMIA. Or you can work to be selected through the FSW / Express Entry stream (it's possible you may qualify now). Or look into the Provincial Nominee Programs. Plenty of options if you are serious about immigrating to Canada.

Good luck.

Sorry, no, you won't. You will have (at best) less than one year of foreign work experience + less than one year of Canadian work experience. Hopefully, you have other foreign work experience that may help you qualify with a skilled NOC.

If not, you need to (a) see if you qualify under a PNP program, or (b) find a away extend your work permit to complete a year in Canada.

You need to spend a lot more time researching Canada's immigration programs if you really are serious about applying.

FSW/Express Entry here:

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/become-candidate/eligibility/federal-skilled-workers.html

LMIA process is here (employer can start the LMIA process at any time):

https://www.canada.ca/en/employment-social-development/services/foreign-workers/median-wage/high/requirements.html
