Hello,
I am currently in Montreal with a visitor status. I have submitted an application to extend my visitor status, and it is still being processed. The processing time is approximately 4 months (I submitted the application 2-3 weeks ago).

Now, I would like to apply for a study permit. Will it be an issue to have two applications in process at the same time, or is it acceptable?

Thank you for your help!

No it is processed from home country. What school and program do you have acceptance?

It always was doable from within canada , unless that changed

The application has to be processed as an outside of Canada application. You cannot submit the application as a within Canada application.

Note that being in Canada on an extended stay generally lowers the chances of approval.

Make sure the school is on the DLI list.

You can apply within Canada but processed from home country so yes it is doable. Need to justify program with career and education advancement when you return to home country. Applying inside Canada will show you have few ties to return to home country. Do you have CAQ? Is this even a DLI?

Yeah i have a CAQ , only missing study permit. For it to be processed outside canada i just need to select outside canada on the gckey right ? but the input the canada address on the IMM Form
So what you're saying is that its doable . (To have 2 requests at a time (Extend request + study permit request) ) . But the downside is that it gives lower chances?

Yes, doable. Lower chances of approval for the study permit.

Is your school on DLI list?
