Applied for January intake 2020, Fanshawe College in Public Relations - Corporate Communication. Received my offer letter and made an Sop again please if someone could help me figure out if there is anything to be rectified or any way I can make it stronger.
Statement of Purpose
I, SHAGUN BHAT resident of Gujarat, India have secured my admission at Fanshawe College, London, Ontario for program of Public Relations - Corporate Communication for January 2020 Intake. I was always a curious and competitive student and due to this inquisitive nature, I picked-up pace in participating in events and competitions like story writing, debates, elocutions, extempore as well as performing on stage like dance, anchoring school events, open mic speeches and aced it. Due to which communicating and connecting with people became easy and I started developing orientation towards my passion of communication. So, after my schooling I decided to do my Bachelors of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication.
While pursuing my three years of Bachelors, I received knowledge about Strategic Communication, Media Relations and Production, Advertising and Public Relations, Press Law and Ethics, Publishing, Visual Communication and Design. I got a great opportunity in my very first year of College to work with a Multinational Company named Medusind Solutions to enhance my Corporate communicating skills. My inclination in Advertising and Public Relations lead me choose my College Internship in advertising company named Mind Sprite Solutions as a Content writer and Proof Reader and later joined Zero Gravity Communications as a Copy writer and Completed my Graduate Studies. Presently I am working in an NGO named Puja Foundation as a Jr. Content writer since July, 2018.
My work experiences have turned me into an open-minded professional. I realised the value of Public Relations in my organisation. In general, regardless of how efficient, ethical and determinant an organisation remains, it won’t have the anticipated impact if its staff and needful people are not aware of its brand, success or contributions. Public Relations play a very important role in current organisations by educating and informing people about the contributions of the organisation by enhancing its brand recognition and by making it more relevant in the eyes of the public. However, I have come to realization that today’s generation is highly dependent on usage of latest technology for efficient and effective communication and hence I desire to keep myself updated with the latest developments in the field of Public Relation. I realized that all my educational skills and my work experiences needed enhancement of modern Media to communicate effectively. As my ultimate goal is to be a successful Public Relation personal, I am intrigued about advanced research, as well as learning more about emerging technologies and techniques used in current public relation profession. Hence, in order to achieve my ambition to be successful, I am in need to learn more about Public relations and especially various technologies involved in it, in detail. and hence I have decided to study and take up a post graduate course as I have special interest in the Communication field. Being a people’s person, I liked to interact with people and think this quality will help me to develop myself as a Public Relation Professional. This course of Public Relations will put me on the right track, as I shape my career.
Public Relation program offered by Fanshawe just not only trains an individual about Public Relations but also makes them ready to hit the ground running, by giving a detailed overview of Digital Media Marketing, Professional skills to present, practise and strategize productively and get demanded results in Public Relation Sector.
It helps a student to acquire specialization in their skills which are essential in the present day Public Relation sectors which will give me diversified career opportunities not just only in Public Relations sector but also in Corporate Communications or special events in both private and public sectors. As the world is expanding more towards digital and social media, print media alone does not stay powerful. This course will help me outshine in the public relation world as I would have an exposure which will help me in the real world. The career opportunity from this program is going to benefit me around the world because it is a very intense program which will help me develop a set of skills of being a successful communicator and express myself clearly, concisely and accurately while, my passion for writing would get a substantial boost. I will also learn flourishing digital media, media kits, media releases, advisories and many more. Hence, I sincerely hope Public Relations – Corporate Communications will help me expand my knowledge about many important area, which I have not explored yet.
I want to study in Canada because it has always been a pioneer in Technology. A reputed Canadian Institute like Fanshawe College will give me sound technical knowledge and better career opportunities. Another reason to pick Canada out of all the other countries is because of its beauty and multicultural environment. With the competition that exists in all fields, in-depth knowledge which is required to meet the challenging situations that may arise in those fields in the days to come. I am sure, I will be able to meet the future requirements in the field of Public Relation on the basis of the knowledge I gain from this qualification from Canada.
Having completed the program can help me find employment in a variety of organisations as a Publicist, Copywriter, PR specialist, Social media manager or a Spokesperson. Post completion of the program, I wish to return to my home country and find good opportunities in Public Relation and communication industry that utilises my skill in the best way possible. With an International degree, I am sure I will have ample opportunities to pursue my career in my desired way and build my dream future,
