None of us can tell you what will happen. That decision is up to CIC.

You can try applying for a work permit - however there's no guarantee it will be approved. It might or it might not. It is perfectly legal for you to apply for a work permit - but again, this is no guarantee of approval.

Sometimes CIC isn't very happy when someone comes as a student to Canada and then tries to switch to a full time work permit before they complete their studies because this shows they probably weren't a genuine student and were just looking for a way to get to Canada.

But again, it's really impossible to say what will happen. It's entirely possible the work permit will be approved.

Here is what I can tell you. I think there is a decent chance your work permit is going to be refused. If your work permit is refused then this will mean you're still here on a valid study permit. However at that point CIC may verify if you are actually attending school. If you are not attending school, they may force you to leave the country you are not attending school. So if you are going to go ahead and apply for the work permit, then I would strongly recommend that you pay your tuition and start attending school as planning in January until you know the results of your work permit application. If your work permit is approved, you can then drop out of school. But until you hear the results of your work permit, you should stay in school.
