Hello! I am just about ready to submit my forms for Outland spousal sponsorship from the uk, my question is whether to have an upfront medical to include with my application or wait until CIC ask me for one... I was previously told to do it first to avoid any delays but now with the longer prpcessing times I've been told to wait. I'm currently in Canada where the exams are much cheaper! Any thoughts-experience?

I agree with scylla, CIC can always extend them if they wish . Why chance an incomplete application. If you are one of the lucky ones that the application stays in Mississauga you don't want to have delays.

Do it upfront or else they will not process your application!

That's not true, it would just delay the application if CIC need to ask for the medical.

We were told to wait for medicals, which was unfortunate as I had one booked the week before we submitted paperwork (December 15th ish) CIC requested Medicals March 17, and my spouse was very fortunate to have found a doctor who was able to do a medical on the 19th of March in the UK. Canadian wait times were closer to a month! With the request we were given 30 days to have them submitted. As it was the earliest appointment in Canada we could find while driving 9 hours was April 15. So IMO that was cutting it waaay too close for my tates, and definitely was delaying things by a minimum of 30 days.

Had we done the medicals up front, the stress of finding an appointment in X number of days would be virtually eliminated and the process wouldn't have been slowed down at all. :)

Do your medical up front. It's on the checklist. Not doing your medical up front means you are sending an incomplete application, and an incomplete application can be rejected and returned.

Please read this: http://britishexpats.com/wiki/Spousal_Sponsorship-Canada/FAQ#Item_12:_Do_I_really_have_to_do_my_medical_before_I_apply.3F
