Hi guys, I was hoping to take the upfront medical exam to save some time. However I've seen posts saying that it is not a good idea to do the medical exam before receiving ITA, is there a particular reason?

My clinic told me that the upfront medical exam is only valid for six months, but I couldn't find any reference on this on CIC website, everyone says the test result is valid for one year. Is my clinic giving correct information? Does the medical exam have to stay valid until landing?

Thanks a million!

Your medical exam needs to be not older than 6 months at the time of filing application. 1 year validity is for landing.

The reason is that in order to activate your PR status you have to do your landing and it needs to be done before your medicals or passport expires, whichever is earlier.

By doing your medicals as late as possible you're basically giving yourself more time in order to prepare your landing to Canada.
