United States Spouse applying for Canadian PR: Question About Jobs

I am a Canadian citizen married to a US citizen and living in NY. We will be applying for my wife's Canadian PR from outside of Canada, but have not looked for any jobs yet, as we would not be able to move to Canada right away if we got one. Does not having a job lined up in Canada make our application a "problem application" that will take longer to process? Other than that issue, I cannot see any hold-ups, as our case is so straightforward.

I don't think so. My husband is an American Citizen and our case got approved in less than 5 months. He did not have a job lined up, and simply said: I will be going to school for X degree (even though he hasn't started enrollment, etc), and working part time. We don't have a ton of funds saved up, didn't show any bank statements, etc, and I am a recently graduated French teacher looking for a job.
So as long as you don't put "I don't know what we're going to do", I think you should be fine.

I'm curious to see the answer to this. We're going to be in the same situation as you. It doesn't make sense to start the job search until the end of the process is nearing or ended.

I'm the same as you, pretty cut and dry, both US citizens, I'm a dual, we've been married 6yrs with a child. He financially supports his family and I'm an over educated stay at home mom. I mean what can they find to pick apart there, definitely no marriage fraud happening here.

Zarilenth - you in Canada now, right? The OP's issue is that both he (the sponsor) and his wife both live outside Canada. CIC needs to be convinced that they have a good plan to actually come back to Canada. Since you are already here, you don't have to convince CIC of this.

Beehivefive - I responded to your question in the other thread. To summarize - it is not essential if you present a good, clear, viable plan to CIC.

Oh, I missed that portion of the question, haha. My bad!

By the way, I forgot to ask: To clarify, were you in Canada when you married your American husband, and then you applied for his PR using the inland application? I am just curious if it took only 5 months to get approved inland or outside Canada?

Zarilenth's case was outland. You can also tell by the fact that the visa office was Ottawa (where US outland applications are handled). The timeline for her husband is one of the fastest I've seen but there are other US outlanders who have gotten it all done in 6-7 months (my wife being one of them).

No chance any inland would ever get through that quick.
