Hi all,

I am waiting for my wes report back and have read so many different answers on other forums.

Alot of people think you need to go by the summary wes provide at the top of the report.

I have been told you need to go by your wes summary at the top, but have been told by others you go by the individual break down below the summary and have seen evidence of people doing this, e.g

summary-3 year bachelor

qual 1- 3 year Bach
qual 2- 1 year college diploma.

So this example from another forum was 2 certificates or more.....can anyone confirm?

Cheers all

So my question is then, if you have 2 of more certificates, but its rates as a Bachelors, when does WES actually count it as 2 or more certificates? whats the criteria to have 2 or more certificates? as in my case, it only counts as a Bachelors?

Hope that makes sense ;)

Please take some time to read the CIC webpage that clarifies on how to read your ECA report.

If you read the text below (I pasted directly from the CIC page http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/eca-conversion.asp

It won't be difficult to notice that the degrees/diplomas that are eligible to be considered under "Two or more..." doesn't include 1 year college diploma that WES mentioned in your Canadian equivalence summary.

Two or more certificates, diplomas, or degrees.
Important notice: One must be for a program of three or more years.

ECA assessment results:

A three-year or more certificate, diploma, or degree

PLUS any of the results in the sections below (not including secondary/high school), or:

Post-Bachelor's Certificate
Post-undergraduate certificate
Post-Bachelor's Diploma
Post-undergraduate diploma
Graduate Certificate
Graduate Certificate with a focus in [area of concentration]
Postgraduate certificate
Postgraduate Diploma
Graduate Diploma with a focus in [area of concentration]
Graduate diploma
two-year Postgraduate Diploma, specializing in [name of discipline]
two-year Bachelor’s after degree with a focus in [area of concentration]
one-year Postgraduate Certificate in [name of discipline]
one-year of graduate study with a focus in [area of concentration]
Study Toward a Master's Degree

Hope that clarifies...

I believe its an issue with CIC text not being very clear and different interpretations

Here's my take on this:

Requirement for Two or more certificates, diplomas, or degrees :
1) One must be for a program of three or more years.
2) PLUS any of the results in the sections below (this is what is leading to confusion). The "sections below" refer to the assessment sections that come after "Two or more certificates, diplomas, or degrees ". In other words to claim points for Two or more certificates, diplomas, or degrees one evaluation should show a three-year or more certificate, diploma, or degree PLUS one of the assessments from below section:

Bachelor’s degree or other programs (three or more years) at a university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute
Two-year degree, diploma or certificate from a program at a university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute
One-year degree, diploma or certificate from a program at a university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute
Secondary school (high school diploma)

The confusion arises because the text places several other titles in-between and mentions "one of the below" leading to interpretation that following 15 titles are also needed along-with one 3 year or more certificate, diploma, or degree. My take is that these 15 titles can be shown if the 4 titles mentioned above cannot be shown.

"PLUS any of the results in the sections below (not including secondary/high school),[size=10pt] or:[/size]

Post-Bachelor's Certificate
Post-undergraduate certificateFootnote 1
Post-Bachelor's Diploma
Post-undergraduate diplomaFootnote 1
Graduate Certificate
Graduate Certificate with a focus in [area of concentration]Footnote 1
Postgraduate certificate
Postgraduate Diploma
Graduate Diploma with a focus in [area of concentration]Footnote 1

two-year Bachelor’s after degree with a focus in [area of concentration]Footnote 1

You are not making any sense above. What do you mean by the above highlighted texts????

What are several titles in-between? :'(

Please clear your sentence structure...its totally incoherent.

If anyone out there can make sense of the above please help out.

I believe what you have put above clearly states that you can choose 2 or more. I read the CIC as:

ECA assessment results:

A three-year or more certificate, diploma, or degree

PLUS any of the results in the sections below (1) (not including secondary/high school), or (2):

1 - This means any section below, so a Bachelors Degree, a two year program or a one year program which is not secondary school
2 - The 'OR' then says if not one of those it can be any of the below:

Post-Bachelor's Certificate
Post-undergraduate certificate
Post-Bachelor's Diploma
Post-undergraduate diploma
Graduate Certificate
Graduate Certificate with a focus in [area of concentration]
Postgraduate certificate
Postgraduate Diploma
Graduate Diploma with a focus in [area of concentration]
Graduate diploma
two-year Postgraduate Diploma, specializing in [name of discipline]
two-year Bachelor’s after degree with a focus in [area of concentration]
one-year Postgraduate Certificate in [name of discipline]
one-year of graduate study with a focus in [area of concentration]
Study Toward a Master's Degree

So even though you posted the above proving i have to select bachelors, the test clearer states I could choose 2 or more.

I gave my opinion...you can choose what you believe...but i don't see your "qual 2- 1 year college diploma." anywhere in the list.

So be wary of rejections based on wrong choice of qualification option, It is better to err on the safer side when you aren't sure.

Sorry, my bad, i wrote that quickly, the actual term i should have used was 'One-year certificate' which comes under:

One-year degree, diploma or certificate from a program at a university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute

So when it says a 3 year course and any from the sections below (not secondary school), if one is from the below, such as the above, i think you can choose 2!

This is such an interesting debate, i have seen loads of them!

I am grateful for your opinion and your thoughts, very much appreciated!

Correct. In your case select "Two-year degree, diploma or certificate from a program at a university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute" if your WES evaluations show:

qual 1- 3 year Bach (assuming you meant "Bachelor’s degree or other programs (three or more years) at a university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute")
qual 2- 1 year college diploma (assuming you meant "One-year degree, diploma or certificate from a program at a university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute")

My WES report (ECA) says overall "Bachelor's degree (Four Years).

Segregation:

For Indian Graduation of 3 years - Canadian Equivalency - Bachelor's degree (three years).

For Indian Masters of 1 year (2 years degree completed in 1 year through lateral entry) - Canadian Equivalency - Bachelor's degree (4 years).

It is also mentioned in Remarks that, the equivalency for this credential is stated in conjunction with study previously completed (which means bachelor's).

Now, my questions are:

1. What should i select as level of education while filling 'Masters degree section? i.e. Bachelor's or Master's? This is a masters degree but canadian equivalency is Bachelor (4 years).

2. Also, while selecting canadian equivalency for this masters degree, what option should i choose? i.e. Bachelor degree 3 or more years or 1 year study at university (as it is actually 1 year study at university)? This is really confusing for me. Any wrong option may lead to a rejection so please suggest.

And at last can i choose bachelors for both degrees to be on the safer side?

Level of Education : Masters (as that is what your certificates/transcripts state) and Canadian Equivalency: Bachelor's (as that is what WES assessment report states)

And at last can i choose bachelors for both degrees to be on the safer side?

Technically, you wouldn't be misrepresenting if you claim points for "Two or more degrees.." but to be on safer side you can state Bachelor's Canadian Equivalence for both degrees and claim points for only "Bachelor’s degree or other programs (three or more years) at a university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute".

Excellent, do you know applicants who have done this even though the summary only states the highest and it has been accepted?

thanks

Hi All,

I was reading posts on WES. I wanted to share my case.

On the top of my report its clearly stated that that:-

CANADIAN EQUIVALENCY SUMMARY: Two Bachelor's degree (four years)

So that means, I can choose "2 or more degrees, certificate, diploma"...right?
