Unable to LINK THE PAPER APPLICATION

Hey all, I have received an email from CIC to link the paper application but I am unable to link it.

I entered the exact details as in the form and searched my application but the system displayed that no record has been found for the provided details.

I have even mentioned the exact case and details. In my application I have entered email and name in Capital/ Block letters and so while linking the application.

Is data we mention during linking case sensitive ?

My account has been locked down in the morning today when I tried a new combination today which was probably my 5th attempt I guess
I have raised a technical issue and asked them to unlock my account if possible since 24 hours is a long time.

@Hurlabrick, the link is good. Hope I could have found it earlier today. I could have avoided the maximum attempt.

@prvc, I did the same thing as mentioned by you except that I entered the passport information, No. of applicants is 1 and not giving entering a space after mentioning the City of Birth
Just a question, but why do we need space after the City of Birth ?

Also, is the account locked exactly for 24 hours or it will be locked for lesser time ?

You have no chance of getting them to unlock it. You simply have to wait until tomorrow.

No idea whether it is precisely 24 hours from the time it was locked, or simply next day (wherever 'day' is!).

I recommend that you approach this methodically. Write down details of each permutation you try, otherwise you will be randomly stabbing at it running the risk of trying what you have already tried and failed, costing you more attempts.

It took me 23 attempts over an elapsed time of just over one week before I succeeded.

@Hurlabrick, 23 attempts... . I will note down the permutation suggestion you mentioned to avoid my account getting locked again.

I hope that I succeed in linking the application soon using your experience.

Wait.. Do you have a representive by any chance?

I am on about 30 something attempts, actually probably more. I've tried all the little tricks.
In January I tried name, birthday etc and then once I received the application number tried that. Still nothing.
I lock myself out everyday, and I have also tried contacting them using the form for technical issue and no reply for 2 weeks

@prvc, I do not have any representative. I have filed the application on my own.

@KloveG, I think we can try what prvc and Hurlabrick mentioned in the previous comment. I believe their experience can save our day
Rather than providing the same input everytime, we can try different combination of data and also try to enter minimum fields.
All the best for your next attempt. Will keep you posted if I get it right the next time.

PS - the way MyCIC excpect you to link your application is without doubt the cr*ppiest and most retarded way I have ever seen!

Why they simply can't send a unique key to the email account you gave them originally like most commercial portals is beyond me!!

Have you tried using City of birth (comma) (space) Province of birth? That's how it worked for me. Double check your generic application and enter exactly what is written on it.

Actually the first 5 tries I was entering space and then the city until I realized it was just a space and then nothing else haha

I had 9 attempts. ;D The space trick didn't actually work for me, I had to enter all info needed, including passport details. But yeah, entering 2 did the trick.

I haven't tried entering the passport info. I will also try that.
Thankfully I can at least check Ecas. But I see everyone able to see medical passed and backgrounds started so I get more anxious to get in to mycic

Try something like this: "San Francisco, Cebu"

What did you put as your place of birth in you generic app form?

We put the place of birth as Santo Domingo (with nothing else in the space)
I even tried using the city he lives in now in case there may have been a error in recording the info but nothing.
My hubby did receive a letter and said make sure you use Family Class (spouses) and then 2 as the number of applicants. That was back in January.

Have you tried "Mexico" only? Check the place of birth in his passport, too. Is Santo Domingo the city? Try entering the province next to it if there's any. Try helluva lot of combos, I think if you get the place of birth right, then you're good to go. I tell you, I would have gone mad if I wasn't able to link it after the 9th attempt. I know this is driving you insane.

I just checked the passport and it says place of birth Santo Domingo, RD. So Santo Domingo is the city.
I'm not his representative. I have a mycic account and we signed him up for one too.

So try Santo Domingo, RD. Also check the generic app form if it matches. Try either one. Good luck. Hope you get successful this time.

My best guess is that the "City of Birth" or "Number of applicants" field is creating this issue.
What I would suggest you is to not enter City of Birth. Rather enter a space in the textbox field so that the form does not validate you.
Also, enter the Number of applicants as "2" -> (Number of applicants + 1) (not sure if it works).
Don't worry because this wont be considered as invalid information as we are only searching the application.
