UK transit visa on a travel document

I have a flight transit from Heathrow airport to Gatwick airport (London) coming up. I know I need a transit visa to go though the UK. When I go to apply for one, it asks me my passport number. I have a Canadian travel document. My question is, can I still get the transit visa on my travel document when I don’t necessarily have a passport? Anyone been in a similar situation ?

Is it a Canadian refugee travel document or Canadian Permanent Resident travel document? Could you clarify which Canadian travel document?
