Hi Guys,

I work for a global company IKEA, and i am looking to move to Toronto from the UK. As there are a few stores close by. I am in management role with transferable skills.

I am best to apply for my visa first then apply for the job role?

KInd regards

Hi

Getting a work permit in Canada is not that simple.

Unless you are a senior manager/executive or you have specialized skills that your employer requires in Canada, you will not qualify as an Intra-Company Transferee. This means that your employer would require an LMIA to hire you; the LMIA process costs $1000, takes months to process and has extremely strict requirements, so there is little chance of finding an employer willing to try.

Alternatively, if you are the right age and meet the qualifications, you can look at the IEC program.
