UK Outland application with baby on the way

hello everyone,

I have a couple of questions that I could do with your help with.

I am British, and married my (Canadian) wife over three years ago in the UK. She was living over here and had been for several years. We have a two year old daughter, born in the UK, and have another baby on the way, due about May.

We have decided a few months ago that we would like to move to Canada, and are putting the forms, evidence etc together and several questions have come up:

We have applied for proof of Canadian Citizenship for our daughter (back in Aug 2010), she has a British passport, what happens if it doesn't arrive before we move to Canada?

Do we need to mention the baby on the way on any of the forms? Do we fly them on a British passport, and apply for proof of Canadian Citizenship over there?

Also, my wife is the sponsor, she is a full time Mum, will there be an issue because she currently doesn't work?

No issue on not working, but she will need to show she intends to return to Canada.

On the child / baby issue - I have no personal experience on this, others will comment.

Applications via the UK are taking about 4 to 6 months, the web site mentions 9 months.

You could take the children on their British passports, if the Canadian ones haven't arrived in time.
The sponsor does not need to be working, though since she isn't it is a good idea to show you have money in the bank, other assets, and are able to work yourself. She will also have to show proof she will be returning to Canada - examples of the kinds of proof CIC wants are in the forms, such as an apartment lease in Canada, a mortgage on a house in Canada, a job offer (for you or her), proof of a job search, enrollment in school, even enrolling your children in daycare/preschool/any other types of lessons in Canada.
The baby will be born before you get the PR visa, so I would mention the child somewhere (though I don't think it is required).

The baby should be mentioned in the additional family information form and if it is born before you get your PR, you should tell them but because the baby is not being sponsored, it is not a huge deal.

If the citizenship card of your daughter is not there yet when you want to go to Canada, you should ask the embassy. They can issue a temporary passport for a child in that situation and maybe they would prefer that you got that. If you bring the child on a British passport, it is like they are coming as a visitor which they are not. If the baby is born at that time, you can do the same thing, apply for a citizenship card asking for it to be expedited based on your travel plans and apply for a temporary passport at the embassy.
