My husband is British and I am Canadian. We are currently both living in the UK but want to move back to Canada. He previously lived there when we met ( he was on a work visa). We have both now been in the UK for two years, married for one. What is the easiest/quickest route to get us back to Canada? Sponsorship or another work visa? and then apply for PR once there? He has a job offer currently, but not sure if they have even submitted paperwork to persue him as a foreign worker. They told us 4 months ago they are 'looking into it'. Any suggestions would be great! We want to get back and start a family, so tired of government paperwork!

Thanks!!

Outland spousal sponsorship would get my vote. You can apply now. Would take somewhere between 6 - 12 months from date of receipt of your pack in Mississauga.

PS - for real sponsorship timescales, refer to the spreadsheet link in my signature line.

The fastest way is for you to sponsor him as your spouse using the outland process. The process will still take a number of months to complete. However if you get the application in extremely quickly, it's possible he could have PR by early next year (maybe even sooner). Ideally you should have kicked off this process four months ago - you might be done by now. But what's done is done - get the application in as quickly as you can.

To be approved for a work visa, his employer will need to give him a job offer and also obtain an approved LMIA. The LMIA process is quite long and expensive (often 4-6 months with no guarantee of approval) and requires the employer to prove that no Canadian could be found for the job. Most employers aren't willing to go through the process because of how long it takes and the expenses involved. I wouldn't assume this route is going to work out for you.
