I take it that this is not a problem and I can legally work for a UK company (via the Internet) and be paid into my UK bank account whilst staying in Canada with my Canadian husband. The UK company has no connection with Canada if this makes a difference.

I play to stay for around 6 months. Is there a time limit on working should I stay longer and get some sort of visitor extension?

Thanks

No, there is no problem with that because really you are working in the UK and getting paid in the UK. I wouldn't go announcing it to immigration though because if you get an overzealous immigration officer, they might decide that must be against some rules and start looking for something to pick at.

The only question is if you are or when you would become classified as a resident for tax purposes. There are some guidelines regarding that, say you have a home in Canada, you spend more than half the year in Canada etc. You can read about this here: http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/tx/nnrsdnts/ndvdls/nnrs-eng.html If you are a resident for tax purposes, you actually should file taxes on your foreign income. However, if you don't, it is very unlikely that they will ever find out.

This is an interesting question for me. My husband (who is British) has his own UK company, but his work is done virtually via the internet.

We're considering moving to Canada (I'm Canadian), and in the process of working out the best way of handling it all without having to split the family.

It really looks as though the easiest way would probably be for us to apply outland before we move, and wait to move until the PR comes through. I guess we would then close down the UK business and begin in Canada so he is paying taxes in Canada.

Are you planning on moving out there permanently? How do you plan to do it?
