Hello all,
I am a UK Citizen with current perminent resident status in the US.
I have met a wonderful lady who lives in SK. We've been together for several months now, I have been to visit her in her home town several times, and I would like to move to be with her. I have applied for several advertised postions in her home town for which I feel I am qualified. There is lots of information out there for people looking to immigrate to Canada via various methods, but most of them mention temporary resident visa exempt.
Do I fall under this? As a British Citizen can I simply cross the border and apply for a job? Is there a special category I fall into that I am missing? I would meet the sponsership requirements without a problem (she has a job, and does rather well, and I have some savings). I meet all the requirements for a temporary work permit except I do not have a job offer at present (I have applied for more than I can count, but not one of them will reply, as I can't honestly say that I have legal authorization to work in Canada).
I am an IT Professional with more than 5 years experiance as a Database Administrator/Analyst/Developer. I hold a GNVQ(m) in Information Technology (2 year college degree from the UK). I have aquired several certificates from a few US Based training agencies (most recently Advanced PHP/Mysql/AJAX from NetCom).
I am completley fluent in English (big surprise given thats where I was born and raised, right?), I can speak some basic french.. but I don't think it's enough to count for anything.
What does my status as a British Citizen get me? Does my US Perminent Resident status help me at all?
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks for your time.
