Hello guys,

I'm trying to figure out how the UCI number is generated.

My first digit is 8xxx-xxxx, I applied two years ago in QC as Refugee claimant.
So, do you have any ideas about "logic" of digits in this ID?
I was thinking that these numbers are dedicated based on sequence of submitted applications, but one guy told me that he has the same date but his UCI begins from 5xxx-xxxx.

I will appreciate if you share your first digits and date/type of case/location.

What do you need this information for? It's useless.

I need this info to know how it works.
For example, for SIN if the first digit it 9 - means temporary, and 3 (currently) - for perms.

I also applied as Refugee Claimant two years ago in Quebec and mine starts with 6. I don't think it means something, just a random pick up from computer.

Actually the first digit of the SIN denotes the area where you first applied.

1: Atlantic Provinces: Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador (this may also cover overseas residents).
2–3: Québec
4–5: Ontario (#4 includes overseas forces)
6: Prairie Provinces (Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta), Northwest Territories, and Nunavut
7: Pacific Region (British Columbia and Yukon)
8: In use, geography unclear
9: Temporary resident
0: Not used (Canada Revenue may assign fictitious SIN numbers beginning with zero to taxpayers who do not have SINs)

With respect, SIN and UCI numbers are not the same..One is Unique client identification, the other Social Insurance number..

THanks for your explanation, that was very interesting for me, I believe that for UCI should be a kind of cause and it can't be random.

WishuWereHere - when did u apply for your first visa to Canada?

Of course, not. If you read the thread, there are 2 discussions, one on UCI and one on the 1st digit of the SIN denoting where it was issued.
