Landed immigrants with children

The UCCB is designed to help Canadian families, as they try to balance work and family life, by supporting their child care choices through direct financial support. The UCCB is for children under the age of 6 years and is paid in instalments of $100 per month per child. When you do go to work, if you have young children, you need to make child care arrangements. In Canada, most families do not leave children under the age of 12 home alone. You may need to ask a relative or pay someone to look after your children while you work. To help you with the cost of child care, the Government of Canada provides a Universal Child Care Benefit (UCCB) to families with children under the age of 6.

Dear Kanamen,
Please advise - somewhere I have read on the website of CIC - It is mentioned that new Canadian Government does not support new immigrants financially. So I was just wondering, if the benefits mentioned by you would be applicable to newly landed immigrants or not??

Yes UCCB applies to newly landed immigrants if one or both parents are working.
