Just learned from other forums that interview officer may require entry/exit stamps stamps from UAE. Especially if the UAE visa was still valid after coming to Canada. Any member had such experience?

My UAE visa was valid till 2013 but was cancelled in 2010 when we came to Canada. I have never traveled outside Canada after that. any suggestions??

I am on it. just another thought as well: I am trying to get the visa cancellation form from my last employer. this form is issued by the immigration and carries a cancellation date. One of my employers in Dubai gave it to me in 2008 and now I am trying to get it from the last employer.
wish me luck.

Most important , you need to show in your application your work/study evidence while in Canada with supporting documents. then you need to ask for your entry report from CBSA , which will show your last entry to Canada, finally get your passports ( old and valid ) translated by an accredited translator. by presenting all these evidences you will be fine.

please make sure that this copy should be attested by UAE - ministry of foreign affairs .... just suggestion coz you are going to get a copy so it should be attested by some authority.

Why not take original Exit/Entry report that has stamp from immigration department. And if possible can be attested by Minister of Foreign Affairs as well which is not free.

Dear All ,

Why do you think the officer would ask for an Entry / Exist report from UAE if the visa of UAE still valid after landing? Dont you think that CBSA report should be more than enough for the officer to check your physical residence in Canada!!

Then if we assume that you left Canada after you landed, then when you come back to Canada for sure you should have an Entry & exist stamp for the country where you spend the time outside.

Then why I feel all the concentration is on those who hold UAE visa !! what about those who hold visa of other countries? Kuwait, Saudia Arabia? Oman? ...etc . If it because those who lived in UAE could enter UAE using the E-gate option then I can tell you that Jordan also has the same option and based on that concept Jordanian citizen who applied for Canadian citizenship should also submit an Entry / Exit report

I agree with you mate and hope the officer will not ask me about it. Just trying to be prepared for the worst and still hoping for the best. I have never left Canada in the last 3 years or so but there are tens of stamps on my passport between the years 2007-2010. That can always create doubts in the minds of these CIC officers. Again, I hope not.

There has been only one similar situation I read in another forum. Else I do not think it is an issue at all - UAE is one if those countries that ALWAYS stamp Exits when leaving and Entry when coming in. So that is proof and on top of that CBSA report will show that as well. I had no issues with my UAE entries and exits. Also you can contact DNRD in UAE to issue a report if your entries and exits from UAE if you have concern.

Good luck

Dear armaan.ahhmad

hope you all the best. Dont worry a lot about this issue and you should know that every one case is different compared to other. I have the same situation. I applied for the citizenship in Feb. 2014 and landed in Dec. 2010 and had tens of exist and entry stamp on my old passport which used while landed but all those travels were prior to my landing , so why I should worried!!

Since I landed in Dec. 2010 I left only once for 4 days to Maldives for vacation and got entry and exist stamp which should come in the same line of my CBSA report if they have accurate entry system as they did not stamp my passport when I arrived back to toronto. I used the automatic machine where you should scan your PR and Passport.

By the way when is your citizenship test? or you still did not apply?

During the interview, what ever documents you present them they mostly do not agree to look at them and may ask whatever for example Entry/Exit report and no one can argue with them.

Anyone who has a UAE residence in their passport should get an entry/exit report from UAE if you don't want to risk an RQ especially when applying from the GTA (Mississauga for sure) and I say that because I have a friend who cancelled his residency in Dubai before landing in 2009 and never left Canada until the test date was interviewed by the citizenship officer prior to the Test for 2 minutes. The officer took one look at the UAE visa and noticed that it would have been valid till 2012 if he hadn't cancelled it, so she gave him the passport back along with a RQ form to fill out and return. The reason she gave him is that she doesn't know when that visa was cancelled...go figure!

They let him take the test but here is my question, if there was any logic to what happened, she would have checked the border services report which he had with him, but I think that CIC doesn't trust the CBSA reports enough to use it as a proof. So my suggestion is to get the Entry/Exit report from UAE or at least have the visa cancellation report with you when you go for the pre-test interview.
