My husband is sponsoring me and im living in Canada with him and im a little confused on how to do my US taxes. Does he need to apply for Individual Taxpayer identification number? Even if im filing married and separate?

I'm not an expert, but I think the only reason he might need this would be if you earned enough money that you actually had to pay tax in the States, and wanted to get a deduction for him as a dependent. I think you can file for yourself without much of his information.

For myself, I paid Turbo Tax to do my taxes for the first full year that I lived in Canada, kept a copy, and now just imitate what it did every year. If I ever earn enough to owe tax, I might have to change that.
