U.S Marriage license work as "certificate"?

Hello everyone,
My wife and I were married in the U.S and we were only issued marriage license, will it work the same as marriage certificate? What info are required on this "certificate" document?

Yes marriage license == Mariage certificate. This will act as proof of marriage.
