My mom's older brother made the trip up to Canada to visit. He is a Indian citizen with a US green card holder. Upon arrival at the border the agents required a few additional documents which we provided. However he was only granted a one month temporary visitor record. He wishes to extend his stay in Canada to the maximum 6 month period. I have filled out the online extension application however when asked about Proof of Means of Financial Support, what exactly are they requiring? We have two options either we can deposit money into his US bank account to show sufficient means, or we can show my mom's t4 stating that she will financially support him. Which option would work best for this scenario?. Also keep in mind he has only been a US green card holder for just over 2 months and that raised some concern crossing into Canada initially.

Thank you for any help on this matter.

He needs to provide proof that he can afford to stay in Canada.
The letter of financial support and a T4 is a good option, as you can also detail the fact he will be staying with your mum and provide other supporting information.

If you file the extension by mail, make sure you get a delivery signature.
He will be on implied status as soon as the extension arrives at Vegreville.
Understand that the extension may not be granted, so a postal application may be better as processing is taking about 135 days at present.
