Hey!

I hope someone has had a similar exp or knowledge of what im going to ask about.

I am in canada and have been working here for a year on working holiday visa
I have just recieved a positive LMO for new job
my partner is also here and working
I will apply for new/initial work permit.

My NOC code is not one that would allow my common law partner to obtain an open work permit, but in my exp border officials like the ones at airports and border crossings really dont seem to understand the processes very well. (im sure some of you know what im talking about) furthermore, cic officals have told me that simply taking an LMO and a job offer to the border (flagpoling) will get one a valid work permit.

with this is mind, can anyone tell me what their approach would be in trying to obtain a work permit for my partner?

Okay yeah, but, just for arguments sake...

We leave and enter canada again on visitor visas, we re-enter canada with our job offers and MY lmo and visa application, shouldnt she receive an open work permit? Seeing as we are common law partners.

If your NOC code is not 0 A or B then she is not eligible for an open work permit. She can be admitted inside Canada as a visitor.
