I applied for an eTA and was asked for FBI clearance and court deposition of an arrest from 13 years ago (which got dismissed) ...... I was wondering typically how long it takes to hear back for approval or denial?? What others experienced?

When you applied, did you inform them about your arrest yourself, or did they find out some other way and ask you for it?

If you informed them yourself, and provided the documents they asked for, you can expect to get an ETA in a month or so. Assuming that the charges and dismissal don't make you inadmissible.

I informed them right away on my application. I got arrested for pos. Of cocaine less than a gram back at the age of 18. Only arrest. I finished my probation and got deferred adjudication. Which means everything got dismissed once I did what I needed to do...... I know its possible that they will deny me but given this was 13 years ago and once I'm hoping they give me a chance.

If it was that long ago, and you have had a clean record since then, you certainly have a chance. You just have to wait and see.

IT GOT APPROVED!!!!
Happy to hear that.

When you travel, be prepared to answer questions about your record - it's not a big deal, but sometimes the officer wants to dig a little deeper when you arrive at the border.

As long as you are telling the truth, you should have no problem being admitted into Canada.

Hi! I was wondering if you can help me. How can I get an FBI clearance? I recently applied for an ETA but they are asking me for that and also a court disposition. I got pull over by the police about 11 years ago. I got arrested for not having a drivers license. I got court back then and only had to pay an infraction. But I don’t know how to obtain those documents.
