Hi Guys,

Just wanted to get an idea about the timeline of updates after you have submitted your application and received an AOR. Its been almost 2 months since I received an AOR and my profile says "Your application is in progress". I know the fact, CIC has a LOT of applications to go through, so just wanted to know what is the next update I should expect on my application. Is it background check or its always going to say "in progress" until a decision has been made?

The first check is to ensure you meet the minimum eligibility criteria (MEC) and this is where most applications get rejected.

Next step is passing the medical exam.

The background check (BGC) will go initially from "not applicable" (NA) to "in progress" (IP) then to "not needed" (NN) and finally to "in progress" again (IP2).

It is shortly after BGC IP2 that you will receive passport request (PPR), which indicates that your application was successful.

The actual timeframe between each step is very application-specific, but you can get an idea based on stream and date of acknowledgment of receipt (AOR) by checking online trackers:
