Would anyone have any idea why there exist two routes to check the status of your application which could give a conflicting status?

Old system says DM, while new says In Process. For info, I’m a late 2018 Mississauga applicant, with interview / test in Feb 2020 and then radio silence.

Response from web query was laughable - the email spoke about Covid backlog blah blah blah & then “we are prioritising those who can still travel“. I mean I’m still in Canada LOL.

The ECAS status tool has existed for a long time, it's just always been there and works for many different applications not just citizenship. The new tracker for citizenship was introduced last year which provides more specific detail.
As per the old tool, DM means a decision has been made i.e all sections of the new tracker should be "complete" except the oath. The oath is the last step and is more of a formality, meaning your citizenship application is already approved, that's why they call it a decision made. I guess the new tracker is just more specific so it remains In Progress until the oath is done as well.
Nothing to worry about though.
