Hi everyone,

My work experience is divided in two NOCs. One with 3.5 yrs between 2007 and 2011 and one with 1.5 yrs between 2014 and 2016 (part-time). In between, I went to graduate school, and was therefore unemployed for 2 years. If I decided to apply for OINP, I'd be left only with the 1.5 yrs (because of the 1 year experience in the last 5 years rule).

Having calculated my CRS score with the 3.5 yrs (more than one year experience in the last ten), could I apply to OINP with the 1.5 yr NOC? If granted a nomination, should I still list the 3.5 yr NOC as main one? Or switch to the 1.5 yr?

Thanks for the insights!

Switch to the 1.5 year NOC as that's what you'll be nominated for.

To be clear, after provincial nomination, you will get your ITA under PNP not FSW, so it makes sense to update your PR application to the same NOC that is consistent with your nomination.

If you list the 3.5 NOC in your EE profile, then you will fail Ontario's provincial nomination requirements as the work experience was not performed in the last 5 years.

Followup question, bellaluna,

Is it possible to change this after receiving an EOI from a nominee program? I currently have 451 points. If a miracle happens, I could hope for an ITA along the year. If Ontario sends new invites, I might be in that batch as well.

If I change it now, I would still be above the 400 in case Ontario sends new EOIs, but my chances of getting an ITA if the cutoff keeps dropping will be smaller. If I change anything that affects my CRS after getting an EOI from Ontario, could they revoke it even if it's above the 400 level?

Thanks again.

Nope, no problem. As long as you are still eligible for EE and your CRS is still above 400, you shouldn't encounter any problems. Also, just make sure to notify OINP regarding any updates to your profile.

Good luck!

Yes I did it too and got nominated.

I'll be blunt, OINP seems to be only sending EOIs right now to French speakers. You may have to wait a few more months for OINP to resume.
