Hey guys,

I'm from the UK and spent 2 years working in Alberta, the first year I had a few jobs none of which you could call skilled work. But the second year I got a job as a apprenticeship mechanic at a car dealership, I don't have any trade certificates or qualifications all I have is work experience. They give me a job letter for when or if I get back saying id have my job and that I can continue my apprenticeship.

Would this be enough to get into Canada permanently? Been checking out the application just want to know if I'm not wasting my time.

Thanks!

Frankie.

A letter isn't enough to demonstrate that you have a permanent job offer in Canada or to continue to work in Canada. Your employer also needs to obtain an approved LMIA.

It's also entirely possible you will need to get a trade certificate / qualification before you will qualify to apply for permanent residency. You'll have to research to find out.

You should also note that Canada is introducing the new Express Entry program effective January 1st that will impact several immigration programs. You'll need to read up on it to understand if and how it impacts you: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/express/express-entry.asp
