Trying to Find a Job while Visiting

I'm going to visit my fiancee here in a few months and try looking for a job. I seemed to find some really conflicting information regarding a temporary work visa. I've seen that you can not apply unless you have certain skills, or for the temporary you can apply while visiting, if you have a valid written job offer from the employer (which takes 12 days to process).

If possible, can someone please help explain to me how this really works? I would appreciate it if you didn't link things as I've probably already read it and it's so conflicting I figured I would come here to see if I could get some help.

Thanks,

Thanks,

1. You missed a couple of steps.
2. If you find a job, then the employer has to advertise it on the Job Bank for 2 weeks. Then the employer has to apply for Labour Market Opinion from HRSDC and demonstrate that there are no Canadians/PRs available qualified for the job. (6-16 weeks).
3. If approved, they you can apply for a work permit outside Canada or as a US citizen at Border office.

Just to add to what PMM has said...

Because of the paperwork involved and because an employer has to first prove they were unable to find a Canadian/PR for the role before hiring a foreign worker, many employers are unwilling to consider foreign workers for open positions. So the very first challenge you'll have is finding an employer who is willing to go through the LMO process. This is certainly not easy. Make sure you have a plan B in the event you are unable to find an employer or cannot get an approved LMO/work permit.
