This is an unending saga...
I got my COPR in Sept and have until mid-April to land. We applied outland and Common Law. We have Condition 51.
My Canadian partner is in Canada, I've been going between there and the US, as I've been able to get some short-term work down here. I've been applying to jobs in Canada, but none have come through yet. Our plan was I'd work until around April 1, then job or no, I'm going back to Canada.
...And then I got a really great (temp) job in the US. This will keep me in the US until early June, though I will probably visit in April & May.

My questions are:
1) Is the CBSA agent likely to deny my landing because I've been back & forth all year? I can't imagine our situation is unique. I've got to work!
2) When should I land? I may spend a week up there before the end of March, I will definitely land before my April deadline!
2a) I've read that it's generally not against Condition 51 to spend less than 2 months apart, so I'm thinking it may be wise to land mid-April, at which point we will only have about 6 more weeks apart.
2b) This job requires a criminal background check. I have never had any criminal record in any country, so I don't worry about that, but I am concerned this will alert CIC that I'm not in Canada. The check will be run after my possible March visit and before my April deadline. This is another reason I'm thinking perhaps I should land after the job has started. I'll have my job letter and can show that the job ends early June.
3) I'm sorry, I know this is asked all the time: We'll have my PR card sent to our home in Canada, then my partner will either meet me at the border or mail it to me, or will I be able to cross when I'm FINALLY moving back for good, even without the card? I think it takes a while, so I'll probably return before it arrives.

**Note: I have no intention to lie to CIC, I'm just wondering what may be the least hassle for everyone.

Thank you so much, as always!
