LANDED..........
30-05-2016
I landed in Canada in May. My House in Texas has a contract to sell and I am told I must have a notary witness my signatures on the closing documents. There are a few notaries in law offices here in Canada.
The closing documents will be emailed to me, I will take to notary and sign, then fed ex back to the title company in the states.
Has anyone done this and does this sound correct? For identification, I still have my passport and copr but my pr has not been mailed to me yet.
Thanks for your help.

Yes - we just did this with a house in Florida (at least my husband did). My husband has dual citizenship. House is in his name only (for tax reasons). We sold it while in Canada. Paperwork was couriered to us (not emailed - but not sure that matters). We found a super cheap notary here, signed off on everything and couriered it back down. I would bring your US passport and driver's license. I don't think the PR card matters at all.

Ty. I have my US passport with my landing paperwork stapled in it. My license doesn't have a photo because it's temporary until I get my pr in the mail.
And my husband will be with me so maybe that will be enough proof of who I am.

I can't remember if my husband had to provide one pieces of ID or two. The notary should be able to tell you this when you contact them.

Where are you in Canada - any chance you're in Toronto?

In BC, Northern Peace Region. Ft St John, BC.
Btw, after four years of visits and now living here, I finally saw the Northern Lights!
