Dear Bryanna and everyone in this forum,

I urgently need your help on how to write a withdrawal letter to the embassy of Canada. I have submitted my TRV application back on the 9th of November in Australia but until now I have not got any reply from the embassy. The website says it will take around 27 days to process my visa, however the main problem is I am going to travel overseas soon on the 14th of December and will need my passport. So, I am actually wondering if it is wise to write a withdrawal letter to the embassy, requesting to withdraw my passport as I am unsure if the visa application would've already been finalised before 14th of December. I have already asked the staff from VFS and they suggest me to write a letter to the embassy about possibility to fast track my application and also passport withdrawal on the letter.

What is your opinion, Bryanna? Anyone has experienced the same case with me?

I would really appreciate your help and suggestion.

Kind Regards,
Sharon

Subject: REQUEST FOR WITHDRAWAL OF PASSPORT

Dear Sir/Madam:

I have applied for a Canadian Tourist visa and submitted all of the required documents.
I plan on traveling for tourism to the USA in the next month. I am therefore requesting that you return my original Passport to me. However I am not interested in withdrawing my application for the Visa to Canada. After you have finished all of the processing on my application and need my passport again please email me, I will resubmit it to you.

Please accept my sincere appreciation for the time you have invested in looking through my file and documents.

Thank you for your help, Zarshah.

Have you experienced a similar situation like me where you have to withdraw your passport while your application is currently being processed?

Hi Zarshah, just one question, did the embassy give the passport back via VFS office or directly post it back to your mailing address?
You can collect it in-person from VFS or else it could be mailed to your residence if you paid for the courier service

Hi Bryanna, thanks for your response.

I am still unsure if I should withdraw my passport or not, so I would like to know your opinion as well, Bryanna. As I'll be travelling overseas on the 14th of December, do you think I should be patiently waiting for the outcome until next week? You can view my TRV timeline below:

TRV application with supporting documents are submitted on the 9th of November.
I constantly checked my online tracking application, but it always showcases as "Visa application, tracking ID xxxxx has been received at the Australia VAC on 2018/11/13 and is on transit to the IRCC Office in Australia, for processing." And it has not changed from the time I submitted my application until now.

On the website, it shows my current processing time is 27 days.

What do you think, Bryanna?

It's perfectly normal to request for the passport to be returned while you are waiting for a decision. Your letter must be along the same lines as the one given by the previous poster i.e. you must clearly state you are NOT cancelling the processing of your application + you will re-submit your passport whenever requested by IRCC.

You won't see any updates on the VFS/VAC website because it is not linked to the real-time processing updates from IRCC.

Before you request for your passport to be returned, I suggest you try linking your paper application to your online GCKey account. You'll have a better idea about the processing status. You can then decide on whether or not to request for the passport to be returned.

This is only an estimate. Actual processing will depend on the specifics of the application

Thank you, Bryanna. Unfortunately, I can't link my paper application to my GCKey account. I have tried multiple attempts but still unsuccessful.
